Vacala Bay Beach

We stayed at Maikara Resort for 2 weeks in June! All the staff members were so friendly and the ocean view from the breakfast & dinner spot was amazing! The whole Resort up on the hill had this great panoramic view, couldn’t get enough of it, really beautiful! On some days dolphins could be spotted in the ocean! Mere provided us very good massages and was so helpful with organizing trips and taxi driver during the whole stay! We also met Roberta the property owner, she helped us finding the right snorkelling equipment and I have to say the house reef right in front of Makaira is amazing to explore and you can just start from the beach! So all in all we really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this Resort!

Beautiful views, amazing rooms and, best of all, the absolutely friendly staff (and owner) make this place unique. We spent some very rainy days in Taveuni but the people here made sure that we were not only well fed (this breakfast 🤤 and don‘t miss out on dinner!) but also entertained. Thank you Roberta, Mere, and everybody else 🫶

We loved our stay here. Great view, amazing breakfast every morning (we're talking fresh fruit, coffee, juice, freshly baked muffins, homemade pineapple jam, toast, pancakes, homemade pineapple syrup!!), and super friendly staff. Every want and need we had was met with a smile from the staff. Cherry on top was the massages. Rooms are huge, clean, and have great views. Taveuni was our favorite island while exploring fiji, and we will be sure to be back :)

Makaira was a fantastic experience. The staff are very kind and determined to make your stay flawless. Mary was an amazing host. The breakfast is fantastic and is taken with a super view of the ocean. We especially appreciated the fresh coconuts we were provided, very refreshing after coming back from the snorkeling you can do a 5 minute stroll away. The snorkeling equipment provided to guests makes it very easy to experience the sublime coral and fish on your doorstep. We were also very lucky to meet Ajay, a fantastic local taxi driver who was also our guide and showed us around the island. Would highly recommend calling him. We got his number from Tramonto, the great bar and restaurant just across the road from the resort! (Amazing staff/ food and great views there too!).

Beautiful stay with a view to die for.. I was lucky enough to be acquainted with the host Roberta, a beautiful old soul that really pours herself into her property and takes care of her staff.. The food was excellent and staff wonderful to be around. Is definitely my choice of stay for any future returns to Taveuni. Vinaka to Roberta and team for taking care of me and see you all again soon! (also, dipping pools are the best!)
