I'm tempted to give Silver Key Beach a bad review, so people will stay away and I will have it almost to myself. Yes, this is a very uncrowded, very beautiful beach. Beaches don't get any better. The only difficulty is that you must walk for some distance to reach Silver Key Beach. No, it is not buggy if you stay out on the beach, near the water. No, there are usually no dead fish at all -- except when there is a red tide bloom, which, fortunately, does not happen all that often (except this past August-October). The shelling on Silver Key Beach is better than on the rest of Sanibel's beaches, mostly because it is remote and so there are fewer shell-seekers. To get to Silver Key Beach, walk for 30 minutes east from Blind Pass, or 30 minutes west from Bowman's Beach.
Great spot. Little walk (3/4 mile?) down from Blind pass or longer walk from Bowman Beach. Very private since most people don't like to walk this far from parking. Shelling is hit or miss, when good it is really good but when quiet there will not be much at all. The end of clam bayous is here where there is an active bed of kings crown shells too( remember no live shelling is allowed). Do be warned--you will see the occasional naked sun bather or really older men in g string bottoms but if not offended by this it is one of the best "relatively unknown" spots on sanibel. Fishing for snook along the shoreline the right time of year will also bring strikes
