Nikiana Beach V

The hotel, formerly known as Alexandros Hotel but now operating as Alexandros B' S.A., is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. It has a strong smell, outdated furniture, is noisy, and the sea view is obstructed by trees. The food is terrible, the owner is rude, and there is no internet access except at the reception. I will not be returning to this hotel and I recommend asking others who have stayed there before booking a room.

I really enjoyed my stay at this beach resort. The apartment was spacious, with two AC units at no extra charge, a well-equipped kitchen, and a large bathroom. The room was cleaned daily and stocked with bathroom toiletries. The Swedish buffet breakfast offered a variety of options. The pool was large and well-maintained, with plenty of recliners spaced out for privacy. The private beach had a small pier, clear water with small pebbles, and beach recliners surrounded by grass and olive trees. Free wifi was available throughout the property, including the beach. The location was convenient, with supermarkets and tavernas nearby. All of this was offered at an affordable price.

We stayed at this beach in 2014 when it was called Alexandros and I can still vividly recall the unpleasant rooms, odors, and overall atmosphere as if it happened yesterday. The reception area appeared nice, but we were given a basement room with a view of vegetation instead of the sea view we had booked and paid for. The room was small, smelly, with a tiny bathroom and watery liquid soap. The plumbing was noisy and disturbing whenever a neighbor used water, and the walls seemed thin as we could hear every noise from neighboring rooms. After speaking with the receptionist in the middle of the night (who was kind), we were moved to a slightly better room on the first floor, but it was still old and worn out, with the same plumbing issues and an infestation of mosquitoes. There was even a dead cockroach hanging from a light bulb, and the ceiling was painted a dark red color. After a difficult night, we were finally given a nice, clean, and modern room on the second floor. The room problems could have been overlooked if the lady we spoke to the next day, who I assume was the manager, had been polite and accommodating. Unfortunately, she was bossy, arrogant, and treated us poorly. We decided to leave a day early. It's disappointing that a hotel with a great location, parking, pool, and private beach is managed so poorly. During our recent visit to Lefkada, we stayed at Christina Studios and Avra Hotel in Ligia, which offered excellent hospitality, cleanliness, breakfast, and overall conditions at a similar price point to Alexandros in 2014. The island and towns were lovely.

The hotel has its own beach with a pool, pool table, ping pong table, and a restaurant with affordable prices. The rooms are very nice and spacious with a view of the sea, but the Wi-Fi is poor, as is common in Greece. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend visiting the nearby beaches in Lefkada such as Porto Katsiki, Egremni, Agios Nikiana, and Kathisma. The water is a beautiful green emerald blue and the beaches are made of marble rather than sand. Just a note, the hotel is now called Lydia Beach, but you will see a sign for Alexandros on your right and the hotel on your left.

I stayed at Alexandros Hotel in June 2014 and I definitely won't be returning. Despite being advertised as a 4-star hotel, I believe it falls short of even a 3-star rating. The restaurant is not open for dinner and the pool bar is closed all day, forcing guests to find meals elsewhere. Unfortunately, the hotel is quite a distance from the taverns and shops in Nikiana, about a 15-20 minute walk. There is a lack of hot water at night and the rooms are furnished with old furniture. Wi-Fi is only available at the reception, but the connection is unreliable when more than 2-3 people are using it. The overall atmosphere at the hotel is not pleasant. The only positive aspect is that the hotel has its own beach and garden with a pool.
