Harington Point plages

This is the best small beach in Dunedin, although it may require a bit of a walk unless you have a 4 wheel drive.

There are lots of enjoyable climbing routes in this area, and you won't have to worry about finding space on the walls. Occasionally, the less popular routes may have loose material and sandy holds, but overall it's a safe and fun experience.

This beach is incredibly beautiful. We visited in hopes of spotting some penguins at dusk, but instead, we only saw sea lions, which was still a pleasant experience. The road leading here is quite narrow, but it wasn't much of an issue. We sat on the rocks to the left after coming down from the parking area but didn't see any penguins. We left around 9:30 PM as it was getting quite dark.

Stunning white sandy beach. Took a stroll with my 3-year-old while my husband carried our 1-year-old. We even spotted a mother sea lion with her baby.

Whareakeake is a stunning beach that is often quiet, making it a popular spot for surfers when the waves are good. The road leading to the beach is narrow and bumpy, so it's best to visit in dry weather. Children enjoy exploring the rocks, and there are always oyster catchers and seagulls around. Overall, it's definitely worth a visit!
