We stayed at Keranji Resort for 4 nights in late October 2023, paying 80 € per night, which we found to be quite expensive for the type of room we received. The accommodation was a tree house, which was a different experience for us as we had stayed in similar places before, but it was not what we expected from a resort. The lack of air-conditioning was not a surprise, but the two fans provided were not functioning properly. Upon arrival, we were the only guests and the resort appeared deserted from the sea. Our Hut 1, supposedly the most expensive and attractive option, was a basic tree house with old furnishings, including a double bed with a mosquito net and a small closet. The condition of the roof was concerning, as it had numerous holes that could allow bugs and other animals to enter. The attached bathroom was only partially enclosed, making it easy for larger animals to access. Despite a net around the bed for protection, we did not feel safe. We travel frequently and are used to simple accommodations, but this place did not meet even basic safety standards. The owner was not present, and the staff consisted of only five men due to the end of the season. The open kitchen also raised concerns about hygiene. We expressed our dissatisfaction to the owner, pointing out that the conditions were not accurately represented in the website photos. We decided to leave immediately, but the owner refused to refund any of our payment, citing their policy. We were disappointed by the lack of concern for our safety and the unprofessional response from the owner. We strongly advise against staying at Keranji Resort and instead recommend Tuna Bay Resort.

10 Exceptionnelle

Keranji Beach Resort offers a true island paradise experience, perfect for those looking to escape modern amenities and embrace a more laid-back and authentic atmosphere. Room 1, with its stunning beach view, is highly recommended. The restaurant serves delicious food, though service may be slow - a reflection of the relaxed island vibes. The environment is pristine, with excellent snorkeling opportunities just off the shore. Snorkeling trips are available, offering breathtaking views of the clear blue waters. The owner is passionate about the beach and the island, creating a truly unique and authentic experience. If you're seeking a genuine island getaway, Keranji Beach Resort is the place for you.

This beach is amazing. If you prefer a concrete resort on the beach, you might not enjoy it as much because it's very natural. The wooden huts blend in perfectly with the environment, allowing you to essentially sleep on the beach. Some cute squirrels may come into the hut, but that's about it for animals. The best part is that I saw black fin sharks in the bay without needing to go on a snorkeling tour.

Keranji beach is a beautiful spot with plenty of snorkeling opportunities right off the shore (no need for a snorkeling tour unless you want to see turtles). It's less crowded than other beaches and offers a stunning sunset, weather permitting. The facilities and service could use some improvement, as the staff works at a slow pace and may struggle with English. The attached toilet was not clean upon check-in, but was quickly resolved when we brought it to their attention. The cabins are basic but comfortable, with good beds. Electricity is only available from 7pm to 7am, so it can get hot during the day without fans. The restaurant serves good food, though prices on Perhentian Island are a bit higher than the mainland. Overall, we enjoyed our stay thanks to the location, but there is room for improvement to make it even better.

Located on a small island in the Perhentian Islands, this beach is secluded and beautiful. However, the accommodation leaves much to be desired. The bed is comfortable, but there are no wall linings to keep out rodents and local wildlife. I encountered a rat, squirrels, and giant geckos, which, although harmless, made it difficult to sleep with the noises in the bungalow and waking up to surprises in the morning. It's a shame because the location is perfect for a quiet getaway, and the food at the restaurant is amazing. I may not stay here again unless improvements are made to the walls and doors/windows for security, but I would definitely return to eat at the restaurant, which I would rate 10/10.
