Ellis Beach

If you're seeking a spacious and more private beach, this is the spot. It's absolutely stunning, but be aware that there are no stinger nets for swimming, and the sand can get extremely hot under the sun. I recommend finding some shade under the trees to extend your enjoyment of the view. While it seems like a great place to be, I wouldn't suggest it as a family beach for kids due to the intense sun, presence of crocodiles, and lack of safe swimming areas.

A great spot to unwind and swim. We did have to take turns watching the girls, just to be safe.

What an amazing drive! There are plenty of places to eat and drink, and the views are absolutely incredible.

This beach is fantastic; you actually drive right through the center of it while heading north on the coastal highway. It's peaceful, picturesque, and I always enjoy taking a walk here whenever I'm back home.

Georgios' place offers cabins to let right on a lovely, family-friendly beach. There's a hotel across the road with a delicious menu, also family-friendly. The drive along the coast road to get there offers beautiful views and it's just a bit over half an hour from Cairns. Included are some pictures of a beach off the coast road near Ellis, where people stop to stack rocks. The result is something you would only see in Cairns.
